Mental Health Registered Nurse – Full-time & Part-time Opportunities

Are you an experienced Registered Nurse passionate about mental health and looking for a rewarding opportunity where you can make a genuine difference?

We are seeking compassionate and experienced Mental Health Registered Nurses to join our healthcare teams supporting people with a range of mental health needs, including complex presentations, acute illness, behavioural challenges and co-occurring substance use concerns.

This is an opportunity to use your clinical expertise in a supportive multidisciplinary environment while continuing to develop your skills across assessment, treatment, recovery planning, risk management and therapeutic care.

About the role
As a Mental Health Registered Nurse, you will provide safe, high-quality and person-centred care to people experiencing mental health concerns. You will work collaboratively with consumers, colleagues and other healthcare professionals to support positive health and wellbeing outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

- Conduct comprehensive mental health and clinical assessments.
- Develop, implement and evaluate individualised care and recovery plans.
- Provide evidence-based mental health interventions and therapeutic support.
- Undertake risk assessments and develop appropriate risk and crisis management plans.
- Support people experiencing complex, acute or severe mental health presentations.
- Provide medication administration and monitoring within scope of practice.
- Deliver psychoeducation and therapeutic interventions.
- Build positive and professional therapeutic relationships.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences, clinical reviews and care planning.
- Coordinate referrals and access to appropriate medical, nursing, allied health and other support services.
- Support discharge planning and continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical documentation.




- Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in clinical presentation and risk.
- Contribute to the management and de-escalation of challenging behaviours.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in quality improvement, clinical governance and service development activities.
- Maintain compliance with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and professional standards.
- Participate in mandatory training and ongoing career development.

About you

You are a confident and compassionate mental health professional who can work effectively in complex and changing environments.

Essential requirements:

- Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
- A postgraduate qualification in mental health nursing, or a recognised equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 5 years’ post-registration clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrated experience in mental health nursing.
- Strong mental health assessment and clinical decision-making skills.
- Experience in risk assessment, crisis intervention and care planning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Commitment to person-centred and recovery-oriented care.
- Emotional resilience, sound judgement and a professional approach to challenging situations.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and service requirements.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.

Experience in the following areas is highly regarded:

- Acute inpatient mental health.
- Community mental health.
- Forensic mental health.
- Secure mental health environments.
- Psychiatric intensive care or high-dependency settings.
- Correctional or custodial healthcare.
- Complex mental health services.
- Drug and alcohol services.
- Crisis assessment and intervention.
- Rehabilitation and recovery services.
