Epping

If you have experience working in OOSH/OSHC and enjoy creating a fun, engaging and protected environment for school-aged children, this is an opportunity to join a well-established service with modern facilities, consistent shifts and a supportive team.

Previous OOSH/OSHC, Before and After School Care or comparable school-age care experience is essential for this role.

Please note, we are specifically seeking candidates with school-age care experience. Early Childhood Education or Long Day Care experience alone will not meet the experience requirements for this particular position.

You will work with school-aged children in a bright, purpose-built OOSH hub featuring well-appointed indoor spaces and an inviting outdoor area designed for play, exploration and fun.

Your shifts will include engaging with children, supporting breakfast or afternoon tea, facilitating creative and recreational activities, supervising indoor and outdoor play and building positive relationships with children and their families.

Hours and remuneration

The service operates Monday to Friday during school terms:

- Morning care: 6.45 am to 9.30 am
- Afternoon care: 2.00 pm to 6.30 pm

You will work a regular weekly roster of at least three morning and/or afternoon shifts.

Casual hourly rates range from $37.58 to $47.67 plus superannuation, depending on your experience, recognised qualifications and applicable classification under the Children's Services Award. The service also participates in the Worker Retention Grant program.

About you

You understand the needs, behaviours and interests of primary school-aged children and can step confidently into an established OOSH environment, actively engage with children and contribute positively to a busy service.

You will bring:

- Experience supervising and positively engaging with school-aged children
- The ability to facilitate recreational and creative activities
- A calm and considered approach to incidents and unexpected situations

- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other educators
- An understanding of professional boundaries and contemporary child-safe practices
- An inclusive approach to supporting children with different interests, abilities and support needs
- Reliability and availability for a minimum of three shifts each week

Knowledge of the National Quality Framework, NSW Child Safe Standards, child protection obligations and My Time, Our Place will be highly regarded.

Relevant qualifications or current studies in education, school-age education and care, community services, youth work, disability support, psychology, sport and recreation or a related field will also be well regarded.

Essential requirements

To be considered, you will need:

- Previous practical experience within OOSH/OSHC, Before and After School Care or a comparable school-age care environment
- A valid NSW Working with Children Check and National Police Check, or willingness to obtain one
- Current HLTAID012 - Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting, including CPR, anaphylaxis and emergency asthma management training
- Willingness to complete mandatory child safety training, if not already completed
- Full working rights in Australia

Commitment to child safety

Our client is committed to safeguarding and promoting the safety, wellbeing and rights of all children and young people.

The service expects every employee to contribute to an environment where children feel safe, respected, heard and empowered. All staff are expected to uphold child-safe policies and practices, meet their legislative child protection obligations and model respectful, professional conduct.

The successful applicant will participate in comprehensive child-protected recruitment screening, including verification of qualifications, Working with Children Check and child-safety-focused reference checks.
