About Simpson Health Centre Simpson Barracks is located at Yallambie (approx. 40 mins North-East of Melbourne CBD). Predominately a Forces Command training base supporting Defence Force School of Signals (tri-service technicians & operators, electronic warfare systems), Defence Force School of Music (tri-service musicians) and Army Education Centre. The Army base services approximately 6000 Defence members and operates a 9 bed low dependency ward 24/7.

The health centre also provides primary medical, nursing, physiotherapy, dental and mental health services.



Standard operating hours are generally 07:30 – 15:30 Monday – Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend and on-call shifts).

What you’ll do

- Deliver high-quality mental health care to Defence members
- Conducting fitness-for-duty assessments and pre/post-deployment care.
- Undertaking assessments, interventions, formulating treatment and care plans for individuals and group education sessions
- Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary clinical setting where patient wellness is paramount

What you bring

- Unrestricted AHPRA general registration as a Psychologist
- Minimum two years’ Post Graduate experience within last five years in mental health within a Primary Healthcare Setting or Specialist Mental Health Setting

- Comprehensive assessment skills and experience in ‘Focussed Psychological Strategies’ and ‘Psychological Therapy’ as per Medicare Schedule
- Current CPR certification (HLTAID009)
- Australian Citizenship required for Baseline Security Clearance
- Commitment to CPD and ethical, patient-centred care
