About the role

As a Mountain Bike Patrol Officer at Yarra Ranges Council, you will help visitors enjoy a safe and positive experience at Warburton Bike Park. You will patrol trails and facilities, provide clear information to riders, support safe riding behaviours and respond to incidents when needed.

In this casual role, you will work mainly on weekends, public holidays and busy visitor periods, using your mountain bike riding skills and first aid training to support the day-to-day operation of the park. You will be based on-site at Warburton Bike Park.

This role will monitor trail conditions, identify and report hazards, carry out minor trail maintenance where safe and authorised, and help with shuttle operations, visitor enquiries, park opening and closing tasks, events and peak-period operations. Your work will help keep the trail network safe, welcoming and accessible, support quick and appropriate incident response, and contribute to smooth park operations during busy periods.

This is 2x temporary casual positions (peak period position).

This is a Band 3 role with an hourly rate of $43.38, inclusive of a 25% casual loading in lieu of annual and sick leave, plus superannuation.

Perks of working with us:

- Opportunities for professional development and to take on temporary roles in other teams to grow your skills and experience.

Experience and skills we’re looking for

- Confident mountain bike riding skills, including riding on varied terrain and safely accessing trails.
- A calm and practical approach when responding to rider incidents, injuries and changing conditions.
- Friendly and helpful customer service skills, ideally in an outdoor, recreation, tourism or community setting.
- Good judgement to spot hazards, trail defects and maintenance issues, and report them clearly.
- Practical skills for minor maintenance or outdoor labour tasks,

such as clearing debris or using hand tools safely.
- Clear communication skills when working with visitors, team members, contractors and emergency services.
- Attention to detail when completing basic records, reports or incident notes.
- A reliable team approach, with willingness to follow procedures and ask for support when needed.

If you have some but not all these skills or experience, we still encourage you to apply. Especially if you have the right attitude and willingness to learn.
