Perfectly Imperfect

Sydney

We’re looking for an Occupational Therapist in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.

But we’re not just looking for someone to fill a diary.

We’re looking for an OT who gets that sometimes the problem isn’t the child, it’s the environment, the expectations, the sensory load, or the fact that we keep asking a nervous system to do something it simply can’t do yet.

Perfectly Imperfect is a neurodivergent-led, neurodiversity-affirming allied health practice, and we’re growing our clinical OT work in Sydney.

This is a clinic-based + mobile role across the Eastern Suburbs, with flexibility for part-time employment or subcontracting.

Our caseload is predominantly paediatric, with work across sensory processing and integration, interoception, regulation, motor development, functional skills, play, participation, independence and parent/carer capacity building.

We work with lots of beautifully complex little humans, including autistic and ADHD kids, PDAers, kids with significant sensory differences, kids who have experienced school trauma, and kids who may have had a long history of adults trying to make them comply rather than understand what they’re communicating.

We want an OT who is curious about the why.

Why is this child avoiding this task?

Why does getting dressed end in distress every morning?

Why can they do something one day and absolutely not the next?

What is their sensory system telling us?

What demand are we placing on them?

And what can we change before asking the child to change?

You’ll need AHPRA registration and the usual professional requirements.

But just as importantly, we want someone reflective, warm, team-oriented and willing to think outside the very traditional therapy box.

You don’t have to know everything about PDA or neurodiversity-affirming practice already. We can teach and support that.

You do have to genuinely want to learn.

And you absolutely need to be okay when the beautifully planned OT session gets abandoned because the child has decided today’s therapeutic priority is lying underneath the table discussing Minecraft. Sometimes, that’s where the good stuff happens.

If this sounds like the kind of practice you’ve been looking for, send your CV and more importantly, tell us a little about you.

And if you know an OT who would fit beautifully into our slightly unconventional little team, please send this their way.
