Your Role

As a part-time Education Officer in the Army Reserve, you’ll work on professional development programs and provide advice and resources. Your work will ensure the Army’s learning, education and training (LET) systems, processes and outcomes meet the current and future needs of its workforce.

This is a rewarding, flexible prospect to work in a range of Defence training establishments that will offer variety and challenges you won’t find in a regular education environment.

Your duties may include:

- development of Defence instructors
- improvement of Defence learning interventions, programs and outcomes
- development of transferable skills to increase the employability of Defence personnel
- designing evidence-based learning products and online learning
- providing learning technology advice
- designing curriculum
- conducting Australian familiarisation and English training for foreign students
- conducting performance and learning analysis to support future capability requirements.

The pay you receive in the Army Reserve goes straight into your pocket with no deductions for tax, and it increases as you gain seniority and experience. Additional amounts are paid for time spent on exercises and deployments.

Eligibility For this role, you must:

- Be at least 17 at the time of enlistment and an Australian Citizen.

- Be reasonably fit and healthy.Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF. You’ll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don’t worry, we'll give you tips to help you prepare.
- Be able to successfully obtain a security clearance.
- Have completed a suitable teaching or education degree or have had formal teacher training and be considered eligible for registration as a teacher in your State or Territory. You also must have relevant teaching experience.
