We should probably start by explaining what this role isn't.
It's not sitting three layers above delivery.
It's not spending six months designing the perfect product framework.
And it's definitely not being an armchair product expert.
Refactor is exclusively partnering with an established Australian digital marketplace to find a hands-on Product Lead to own the next phase of its product.
The brief was summed up brilliantly by the hiring team:
They don't need another chef designing the menu. They need someone who can actually cook.
The opportunity:
You'll become the key product person for an established B2B marketplace, owning the customer experience and working directly across Engineering, Design, Data, Sales and commercial leadership.
You'll help shape strategy.
But you'll also be expected to turn that strategy into things customers can actually use.
Think
Discover → validate → build → launch → measure → improve.
Then go again.
What you'll be doing
- Owning product vision and priorities
- Understanding buyer and seller behaviour
- Identifying opportunities for customer and commercial growth
- Running discovery and turning problems into product solutions
- Taking ideas from concept through to launch
- Testing assumptions and experimenting quickly
- Using customer and product data to make decisions
- Working side-by-side with engineering throughout delivery
- Optimising engagement, conversion and customer value
- Managing dependencies across a wider technology organisation
- Communicating product direction to senior stakeholders

Who we're looking for: We're deliberately not getting hung up on title.
You might currently be a:
Product Lead. Senior Product Manager. Principal Product Manager. Or even Head of Product within a smaller business.
What matters is that you're still hands-on.
You can talk strategy with an executive in the morning, work through a customer problem with Sales before lunch and jump into a delivery session with Engineering that afternoon.
Experience across marketplaces, e-commerce, SaaS, FinTech, PropTech, travel or another customer-facing digital product would be particularly compelling.
We want someone who can tell us:
“I found this problem. We tested it. We built this. We launched it. Here's what happened.”
