We are looking for an experienced Project Accountant to join the Emeco team and provide accounting and reporting support across our projects and contracts.
This is a new position that is being offered on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
This is a hands on role with a strong focus on project expenditure, cost tracking, reconciliations, capitalisation and amortisation. You will work closely with Finance, Operations and Commercial teams to ensure project information is accurately captured, maintained and reported.
You'll be joining a fast-paced and dynamic environment where priorities can change quickly, so we're looking for someone who is organised, comfortable working with large volumes of data and enjoys getting into the detail.
About The Role
- Support the tracking and reporting of Return to Work (RTW) expenditure across projects and contracts.
- Record project expenditure and ensure costs are allocated to the appropriate project.
- Maintain detailed project cost schedules and supporting documentation.
- Assist with determining appropriate amortisation commencement dates and periods based on project and contract duration.
- Calculate and process monthly amortisation.
- Maintain the RTW register and reconcile balances to the general ledger.
- Prepare monthly reporting showing opening balances, additions, amortisation and closing balances.
- Maintain forward amortisation schedules across the rental fleet.
- Monitor project expenditure and highlight costs tracking above or below expectations.
- Investigate variances, unusual movements and discrepancies in project accounting records.
- Monitor projects approaching completion and ensure amortisation schedules are updated appropriately.
- Work with Operations and Commercial teams to ensure new projects, contract extensions and changes are accurately captured.
- Prepare accurate weekly and fortnightly reporting for management.
- Support forecasting and other project related financial analysis as required.

What You'll Bring
- Experience in management accounting, project accounting or a similar finance role.
- Experience within mining, construction, equipment rental, projects or another operational environment will be highly regarded.
- Good understanding of project accounting and tracking expenditure across multiple projects or contracts.
- Experience working with large value project expenditure and allocating costs accurately.
- Sound understanding of capitalisation and amortisation.
- Experience maintaining project cost schedules and amortisation registers.
- Strong reconciliation skills, including reconciling project records to the general ledger and investigating variances.
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, SUMIFS, data manipulation and financial modelling.
- Ability to work with large datasets and identify errors, unusual movements and discrepancies.
- Robust attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with Finance, Operations and Commercial teams.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment.
