Due to continued growth, we are seeking an Experienced Picture Framer to join our team. This is an opportunity to work on high-end framing projects in a professional workshop and contribute to a business that values precision, creativity and quality workmanship.

As an experienced Picture Framer at Arts Edge, you will create high-quality custom frames that preserve and showcase clients’ artwork, photographs and keepsakes. The role combines craftsmanship, creativity and technical precision, using traditional framing techniques alongside modern equipment and machinery.

You will work with a range of materials and projects, including timber mouldings, mounts, glazing, conservation materials and complex or unusual items. The successful applicant will be expected to work confidently and independently while maintaining consistently high standards.

Key Duties

- Review drawings, work orders and samples to determine framing specifications.
- Interpret measurements, design requirements and customer instructions.
- Select appropriate mouldings, mount boards, glazing, backing materials and hardware.
- Determine tooling, material and machine requirements.
- Plan and sequence framing and workshop operations efficiently.
- Set up and operate woodworking machinery safely and accurately.
- Cut, plane, shape, sand and prepare frame components to precise measurements.
- Join and assemble frame components accurately and securely.
- Remove existing finishes where required using appropriate tools and materials.
- Apply finishes including varnish, shellac, lacquer, stains, paint, polish and wax.
- Cut and assemble mounts, including complex and multi-opening designs.
- Mount and assemble artwork, photographs, textiles, objects, backing materials and glazing.
- Apply appropriate conservation and preservation techniques.




- Complete detailed quality checks before finished work is released.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop.
- Work cooperatively with the framing team and contribute to an efficient workflow.

Skills and Experience The successful applicant will have:

- Demonstrated professional experience as a picture framer.
- Strong knowledge of custom framing methods and materials.
- Experience with timber mouldings, mount cutting, glazing and artwork assembly.
- Competence operating framing and woodworking tools and machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, work orders and specifications.
- Experience with conservation framing and preservation materials.
- Excellent measurement, manual dexterity and finishing skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a high standard of craftsmanship.
- Good design sense and the ability to recommend suitable framing solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a professional team.
- A reliable, positive and professional attitude.

Experience with complex artwork, textiles, objects, mirrors, memorabilia or unusual framing projects will be highly regarded.

The role may be offered on a full-time or part-time basis for the right candidate, depending on experience and availability. Salary and conditions will be discussed with suitable applicants and will be in accordance with the applicable award and the candidate’s experience.
