Make a Difference in Acute Cognitive Care

Join our newly established 12-bed Acute Cognitive Unit at Logan Hospital, providing specialised, person-centred care to older patients experiencing dementia, delirium, frailty and functional decline.

About This Role

Your new role

As a Registered Nurse in the Acute Cognitive Unit, you will provide safe, compassionate and person-centred care to older patients with complex cognitive and geriatric needs. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will support patients experiencing dementia, delirium, frailty, falls and functional decline while contributing to positive clinical outcomes and a supportive care environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver comprehensive, person-centred nursing care to patients with complex cognitive and geriatric needs.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care using clinical judgement and evidence-based practice.
- Work collaboratively with nursing, medical and allied health teams to coordinate patient care.
- Contribute to quality improvement, education, mentoring and ongoing professional development.

About You You are a compassionate and adaptable Registered Nurse with a genuine interest in caring for older people and supporting patients with dementia and other complex cognitive needs. You will bring sound clinical judgement, strong communication skills and a commitment to collaborative, person-centred care. Skills & Experience

- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the NMBA.
- Demonstrated nursing knowledge, skills and clinical experience.
- An interest in dementia,



geriatric and complex cognitive patient care.
- Strong communication, teamwork, critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills.

Logan Hospital Logan Hospital is the major health centre for one of the fastest growing areas in Queensland. We offer a range of services, including medical, rehabilitation, maternity, surgical and paediatric care.





We offer our staff and students extensive support and training in most medical specialties. As a teaching hospital, we help train future health care professionals and participate in research through strong partnerships with Queensland's leading medical schools, universities, and TAFE Queensland.

Our services will continue to grow as we build bigger and better facilities to support the community. By 2027, we'll have more beds and 5 more birthing suites as part of the Logan Hospital expansion.
