About the role
We are seeking a Regulatory Reporting Specialist to join our client in Sydney, NSW.
As a Regulatory Reporting Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our organisation meets all regulatory reporting requirements and compliance obligations. This position is fundamental to maintaining our standing with regulatory bodies and supporting the integrity of our financial reporting processes. You will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and submitting regulatory reports whilst ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to all applicable regulations and standards.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and lodge regulatory financial reports in compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, regulatory requirements and reporting frameworks
- Monitor changes to regulatory reporting requirements and implement necessary updates to reporting processes and procedures
- Review financial data and statements to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with reporting standards
- Liaise with external regulators, auditors and other stakeholders regarding regulatory reporting matters
- Develop and maintain regulatory reporting documentation, templates and process workflows
- Reconcile accounts and investigate variances to support accurate regulatory submissions
- Maintain detailed records of regulatory reporting submissions and maintain audit trails
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing requested financial documentation and explanations
- Identify process improvements and recommend enhancements to regulatory reporting systems and procedures
- Provide training and guidance to team members on regulatory reporting requirements and best practices
What we're looking for
- A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, finance or a related discipline, ideally including CA, CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in regulatory reporting, financial accounting, or a similar accounting role
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AAS), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and relevant regulatory frameworks
- Demonstrated experience preparing regulatory reports and financial statements for submission to regulatory bodies
- Proficiency with accounting software and financial reporting systems; experience with data analysis tools is advantageous
- Excellent attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and compliance
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple reporting deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex accounting matters clearly
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to research and resolve regulatory reporting issues
