Role Description This part-time, remote Research Assistant / Research Analyst role supports Solar Community’s efforts to expand residential and community solar adoption through data-driven insights. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting qualitative and quantitative research on renewable energy trends, customer behavior, and market conditions, and organizing information into transparent reports, summaries, and presentations. The role involves collecting and analyzing data from internal systems, public databases, and industry publications, and assisting in the design and refinement of research methodologies and surveys.
The Research
Assistant / Research Analyst will collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide evidence-based recommendations, ensure data accuracy, and maintain documentation that informs strategy, outreach, and product development. This position offers flexibility while contributing directly to Solar Community’s mission of delivering energy independence and promoting sustainable design.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative data and draw clear, actionable conclusions.
- Research skills including literature review, data gathering from multiple sources, and basic survey or study design.
- Data analysis capabilities using spreadsheets or statistical tools to clean, organize, and visualize data sets.
- Effective communication skills to present findings clearly in written reports, slide decks, and discussions with non-technical stakeholders.
- Laboratory or technical skills (e.g., basic familiarity with energy systems, scientific methods, or experimental documentation) are beneficial.
- Enrollment in or completion of a degree program in a relevant field such as Environmental Science, Engineering, Data Science, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Interest in renewable energy, sustainability, and community-focused initiatives; prior experience in the clean energy sector is a plus.
- Proficiency with productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., spreadsheets, presentation software, online project management platforms).
