The Research Circle is an informal academic and research network based in Australia, dedicated to supporting students and early career researchers through connection, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. Role Description The Research & Community Development Coordinator is a volunteer role responsible for helping design, implement, and support initiatives that strengthen the Research Circle community. This hybrid role is based in Melbourne, VIC, with a mix of in-person activities and some work-from-home tasks.

Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating research-focused events or discussion groups, facilitating communication between members, and supporting collaborative projects across disciplines. The coordinator will assist in identifying community needs, gathering feedback, and contributing to the development of resources and programs that promote academic growth and engagement. The role also involves maintaining online community spaces, preparing clear communications and working closely with other volunteers to enhance member experience.

Qualifications





- Strong analytical skills to interpret feedback, identify community needs, and support evidence-informed initiatives.
- Experience or interest in research and development (R&D;) and general research activities, including literature review and project support.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage respectfully with diverse academic and student communities.
- Background or interest in Food Science or related disciplines, or willingness to collaborate with members from various research fields.
- Organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks in a volunteer environment.
- Comfort working in hybrid settings (online and in-person) and using digital collaboration tools and social platforms.
- Commitment to inclusive, respectful, and non-discriminatory community practices.
- Current student or early career researcher, or demonstrable interest in academic and research communities; prior experience in community building or student organizations is an advantage.

- Early-career researcher
- Psychology, public health, health science or social science graduate
- Research-interested skilled with relevant experience

You do not need to be an established academic.

However, you should have genuine experience with, or an understanding of, how research works.
