About the Role:
We are seeking a collaborative and influential Risk & Assurance Superintendent to lead and continuously improve risk management, critical control management and assurance across CSA Mine.
Reporting to the Manager Health, Safety & Training, this role partners with leaders across the business to strengthen risk ownership, improve control effectiveness and support informed decision-making.
You will play a key role in implementing the site's Risk Management Framework, Critical Control Management Program and assurance activities, ensuring alignment with Harmony standards, ICMM Critical Control Management Good Practice Guidance and industry leading practice. The role also supports business continuity, organisational resilience and insurance risk management initiatives that contribute to the long-term sustainability of the operation.
This role is suited to a professional who enjoys working with operational leaders to understand complex risks, evaluate control effectiveness and translate risk insights into practical improvements that strengthen both safety and business performance..
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Risk Management
- Lead and continuously improve the site's Risk Management and Critical Control Management frameworks.
- Facilitate risk assessments, bowties, material risk reviews and critical control assurance activities.
- Support the development, implementation and monitoring of critical control performance standards and verification activities for material risks.
- Partner with operational and functional leaders to identify, understand and effectively manage operational, strategic and emerging risks.
- Coordinate assurance activities that verify the effectiveness of critical controls, risk treatments and governance processes.
- Support business continuity, organisational resilience and insurance risk improvement initiatives.
- Provide risk reporting and insights on material risks, control effectiveness, assurance outcomes and improvement opportunities.
- Build risk capability through coaching, mentoring and practical support for leaders, risk owners and control owners.
Qualifications
About You You will bring experience in risk management, assurance, governance, audit, critical control management or operational risk within mining, resources, heavy industry or other complex operational environments.
You will also have:
- Experience facilitating risk assessments, risk reviews, workshops or other structured risk management activities.
- An understanding of risk management principles, control effectiveness, assurance practices and risk governance processes.
- The ability to analyse information, identify key risk drivers and communicate practical solutions to diverse stakeholders.
- Strong relationship-building, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to influence outcomes, facilitate constructive conversations and build trust across multiple levels of an organisation.
- Tertiary qualification in Risk Management, Engineering, Mining, Business, Governance or a related discipline.
- Experience with ICMM Critical Control Management.
- Experience developing or implementing Critical Control Performance Standards.
- Experience in business continuity, organisational resilience or crisis management.
- Exposure to insurance risk management, risk engineering, audit or assurance programs.
- Knowledge of underground mining, principal hazards and material unwanted events.
Highly Regarded
- Experience with ICMM Critical Control Management.
