- Position Brief - Senior Accessibility Adviser

As the Senior Accessibility Adviser, you will provide specialist advice and leadership to embed accessibility, inclusion and universal design principles across the City’s infrastructure, services, programs, information, policies, projects and strategic initiatives. As the City’s principal subject matter expert, you will help shape inclusive outcomes for people with disability, older people, carers and others who may experience barriers to participation. Your expertise will support the City to create accessible environments, services and experiences and progress its commitment to becoming an accessible City for all.

About The Role

You will work across our business to provide strategic and technical accessibility advice, ensuring accessibility considerations are embedded from planning and design through to delivery and evaluation.

Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, you will influence projects, policies, programs and services and provide expert advice on relevant legislation, standards and best practice. You will also build strong relationships with people with disability, carers, advocacy organisations and community stakeholders, ensuring lived experience informs the City’s decision making.

You will have the opportunity to lead organisation-wide accessibility improvements through the development of policies, standards, guidance and training, while keeping the City informed of emerging trends, industry developments and best practice.

About You

You are an experienced accessibility professional with strong specialist knowledge of accessibility, disability inclusion and universal design,



and the ability to translate this expertise into practical outcomes across a complex organisation.

You Will Bring

- Demonstrated experience in accessibility and disability inclusion, with specialist knowledge of accessible infrastructure, built environment requirements, universal design principles and relevant standards and legislation.
- Strong knowledge of relevant accessibility legislation, standards, guidelines and best practice.
- Experience influencing and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to embed accessibility into planning, design and service delivery.
- Strong consultation and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to meaningfully engage with people with disability and community representatives.
- The ability to analyse complex issues, provide strategic and technical advice, and develop practical recommendations that support better outcomes.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience developing organisational policies, standards, guidance, training or continuous improvement initiatives would be highly regarded.
