Role Description The Senior Bookkeeper is a part time role based in Sunshine West, VIC with a hybrid work arrangement, combining on-site work with the flexibility to work from home. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including processing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank and credit card accounts, and preparing accurate financial records.
The Senior
Bookkeeper will maintain and review the general ledger, post journal entries, and contribute to the preparation of financial statements and management reports. The role involves working with accounting software to ensure data integrity, compliance with relevant regulations, and timely reporting.
The role will also process a weekly payroll of 60 employees.
The Senior Bookkeeper will also collaborate with business leaders to provide practical financial insights, support process improvements, and help streamline systems.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in bookkeeping and journal entries (accounting) to maintain accurate and compliant financial records.
- Candidates should possess skills in financial statements and finance to support reporting, analysis, and informed decision-making.
- Understanding of payroll requirements including EBA interpretation
- Candidates should possess skills in accounting software to manage data entry, reconciliation, and system-based reporting efficiently.
- Relevant qualifications such as a certificate or diploma in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance; professional membership or registration is an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in a senior bookkeeping or similar role, preferably supporting multiple businesses or complex operations.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple clients or deadlines in a part-time capacity.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Australian accounting standards, GST, BAS, and payroll processing is highly beneficial.
