About the role
As a key member of Council's Governance team, you'll support effective decision-making and help strengthen governance, compliance and accountability across the organisation. You will provide governance support for Council, Executive, Committee and Leadership Team meetings, while contributing to the development and implementation of policies, governance frameworks and compliance programs.
Working collaboratively with stakeholders across Council, you'll support statutory compliance, facilitate access to information in line with the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009, and contribute to governance projects that drive continuous improvement. You'll also support internal audit activities and the implementation of audit recommendations, helping to enhance organisational performance and governance maturity.

Remuneration
$94,968.64 - $114,377.12 + 12% Superannuation
Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications
1. Demonstrated experience in local government administration, local government governance, or a similar role.
2. Experience in one or more of the following: working in a secretariat or administrative role involving regular production of meeting papers and minutes for boards/committees and providing in-meeting support, statutory interpretation, compliance management, internal audit, policy development, and dealing with information access applications within a complex legislative framework.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of one or more of the Local Government Act 1993, Local Government (General) Regulations 2021, Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998, Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009, Office of Local Government Model Codes/Policies/Best Practice Guidance, and relevant/associated regulations.
4. Ability to coordinate one or more of the following: governance, compliance, policy development, internal audit, and/or information access initiatives and workstreams, with some supervision.
5. Sound interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
