About Newton

Newton is a global strategy and management consultancy with 700+ people globally, generating approximately £200m in annual revenue.

Following significant growth in Australia, Newton is now looking to make its first strategic Data & AI leadership hire in Sydney.

The Australian business has already grown to approximately 30 people, with an established client base across Defence, Public Sector, Energy and Infrastructure.

This hire will play a key role in the next stage of that growth — building out Newton’s Data & AI capability in Australia.

The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to build something rather than step into something already established.

Joining at Senior Manager or Director level, you’ll have significant ownership from day one — helping shape the strategy, grow the team and build out the Data & AI offering locally.

You’ll work closely with the Australian leadership team to identify opportunities within existing and new clients, shape propositions and lead high-impact engagements.

The remit will span AI, Machine Learning, Data Science and Advanced Analytics, with plenty of autonomy over how the capability develops.

There is also a clear pathway through Director and towards Partner-level leadership as the Australian business grows.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Build & Lead: Establish and grow Newton’s Australian Data & AI capability, including its strategy, proposition and future team.
- Client Strategy: Work with senior stakeholders to identify where Data & AI can solve complex business and operational problems.
- Data & AI Delivery:



Shape and lead engagements across AI, Machine Learning, Data Science and Advanced Analytics.
- Business Growth: Develop opportunities within existing clients while helping Newton expand into new accounts and sectors.
- Team Growth: Hire, develop and lead the Data & AI team as the capability scales.
- Leadership: Work closely with Australian and global leadership and contribute to Newton’s broader growth in Australia.

What We’re Looking For

- Strong consulting experience across Data, Analytics, AI, Machine Learning or Data Science.
- Experience leading complex Data & AI engagements from initial client problem through to strategy and delivery.
- Strong commercial and client-facing capability, with confidence engaging senior executives.
- Broad understanding of contemporary Data & AI technologies and how they can deliver measurable business outcomes.
- Experience building teams, capabilities, propositions or new consulting offerings would be highly advantageous.
- Comfortable operating in an environment where you can shape the direction rather than inherit an established function.
