Primary objective

Provide technical leadership and expert advice to ensure Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) infrastructure architecture,

software and environments are correctly configured to support enterprise business systems, applications and transformation programs within client agencies.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Lead, manage and administer a sophisticated ICT software and infrastructure workplace encompassing automation, virtualisation,

relational database management systems (RDBMS), networks, storage and cyber security, including interconnected systems and services that support enterprise business applications.
1. Provide high-level technical advice and expertise regarding ICT infrastructure architecture, software and environments,



including

planning, designing, testing and implementing upgrades for complex initiatives whilst ensuring industry best practice and adherence to vendor instructions and government technical architecture standards.
1. Support project activities to protect the physical infrastructure, applications and virtualisation environments ensuring appropriate

governance and risk management frameworks are in place and undertaking procurement and contract management as required.
1. Collaborate with stakeholders, clients, colleagues, vendors and service providers to diagnose and resolve complex technical problems,

with an emphasis on building and maintaining productive working relationships and identifying opportunities for continual improvement.
1. Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing and mentoring to support best practice standards, strengthen team capability and

promote consistent technical practices across the operating environment.
1. Stay abreast of trends and best practice within specialist areas of responsibility to ensure quality and contemporary advice and

recommendations.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Significant experience and contemporary knowledge of enterprise level ICT infrastructure architecture, software and environments

encompassing automation, virtualisation, relational database management system (RDBMS), networks, storage and cyber security, and the ability to understand system dependencies,



integration points and architectural impacts across complex ICT environments.
1. Experience with and expert knowledge of a range of midrange products including server management, application hosting

environments, application support products, operating system administration, platform administration, database administration services and associated infrastructure, with demonstrated ability to support interconnected servers, applications and services.
1. Demonstrated ability to contribute to infrastructure delivery within projects and transition services into BAU support.
2. Demonstrated technical leadership experience, including the ability to guide technical decision-making, share knowledge, mentor

others and support change in complex ICT environments.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrated success cultivating productive working relationships with people of diverse professional and cultural backgrounds.

1. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of commitment to service, innovation, ethical practice,

accountability, impartiality, diversity and respect.

Desirable

1. Degree level tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, e.g. ICT, Computer Science, Business Administration.
2. Relevant Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) qualification.
3. Experience managing a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) environment.
