Given our continued and increasing work with net worth individuals, family business owners and rural enterprise, we are looking for a motivated solicitor that shares our values, commitment to excellence and high levels of customer service to help solve our clients wills and estate planning needs.
Role Description The Senior Wills and Estate Planning Lawyer will lead and manage complex matters in wills and estate planning, including drafting wills, enduring powers of attorney, and advanced estate planning strategies for a broad range of clients. Day-to-day responsibilities include advising clients on asset protection, tax-effective structuring, and family provision risk, as well as overseeing estate administration and handling estate litigation files. The role involves direct client interaction, mentoring junior lawyers and support staff, collaborating with colleagues across related practice areas, and contributing to the firm’s knowledge development and precedents.
The lawyer will be expected to manage their own file load, meet billing and performance targets, maintain high standards of compliance and professional ethics, and participate in business development activities such as seminars and client relationship building. This is a full time, on-site role based in Brisbane,
QLD.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Wills and Estate Planning, and Estate Administration.
- Strong legal drafting, interpretation, and soft skills, with the ability to handle complex estate planning structures and strategies.
- Excellent client relationship skills, including clear communication, empathetic client care, and the ability to explain complex legal issues in plain language.
- Proven file management, time management, and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage competing demands.
- Experience mentoring and supervising junior lawyers or legal support staff, with a collaborative and inclusive leadership style.
- Sound commercial awareness and professional judgment, including familiarity with tax, trust, and property issues relevant to estate planning.
- Proficiency with legal practice management and document management systems, and strong general computer skills.
- Admission as a Lawyer in Australia, with a current practising certificate and substantial post-admission experience in Succession Law (senior-level experience strongly preferred).
- Commitment to ethical practice, continuing professional development, and contributing positively to firm culture and team collaboration.
