1. Prepare dental treatment rooms and equipment before patient appointments.
2. Prepare and arrange dental instruments, materials and supplies required for procedures.
3. Assist dentists and dental practitioners during examinations, treatments and procedures.
4. Pass instruments and materials to dental practitioners during clinical procedures.
5. Prepare patients for dental treatment and provide appropriate support throughout appointments.
6. Clean, disinfect and sterilise dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection-control procedures.
7. Set up and dismantle treatment areas following dental procedures.
8. Follow appropriate infection-prevention and control practices.
9. Maintain adequate supplies of dental materials, instruments and consumables.
10. Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and receiving dental supplies.
11. Assist with dental impressions, x-rays and other procedures where appropriately trained and authorised.
12. Provide patients with basic information and instructions regarding dental procedures and post-treatment care as directed by the dental practitioner.
13. Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
14. Assist with appointment scheduling, patient reception and general administrative duties where required.
15. Follow workplace health and safety,
infection-control and practice policies.
16. Provide courteous and compassionate support to patients, including children, elderly patients and anxious patients.
17. Work collaboratively with dentists, hygienists, reception staff and other members of the dental team.
Qualifications and Experience
1. Certificate III in Dental Assisting or another relevant recognised qualification in Dental Assisting.
2. Minimum 1-3 years of relevant full-time experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinical support role.
3. Demonstrated experience assisting dental practitioners during examinations and procedures.
4. Knowledge of dental instruments, materials, equipment and clinical procedures.
5. Understanding of infection prevention, sterilisation and clinical hygiene requirements.
6. Ability to prepare and maintain dental treatment rooms and equipment.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-focused approach.
8. Ability to maintain accurate patient and clinical records.
9. Robust attention to detail and ability to follow established clinical procedures.
10. Ability and willingness to work a minimum of 38 ordinary hours per week, with reasonable additional hours as required by operational needs.
