Share Stories, Walks and Friendship with a Remarkable Woman

We're looking for a warm and friendly volunteer to spend time with a lovely older lady living in South Coogee who would value regular companionship and a genuine friendship.

Having lived an extraordinary life across several countries, she has no shortage of stories to share. Originally from Israel, she has also lived in South Africa, Cyprus, and Greece, giving her a rich and fascinating perspective on the world. A former qualified opera singer, she still enjoys singing from time to time and loves reminiscing about her travels, experiences, and the people she has met along the way.

While she remains friendly and engaging, she can feel lonely at times and would love a volunteer who could help her get out of the house more often.

As a volunteer, you might:

- A visit to a local café

- Reminisce and exchange stories about life experiences

- Provide regular companionship and social connection

- A gentle paced walk to look at the ocean

What's involved?

- A minimum 6-month commitment

- Weekly or fortnightly visits

- Visits on the same day and time to help build a meaningful and lasting friendship

- Visits can take place Monday to Sunday, for one hour, anytime between 9:00am and 5:00pm

- Visits take place in her home in Eastgardens

No special skills or experience are required. We're looking for someone who is kind, reliable, patient, and enjoys connecting with others.

Please note: This role is focused on building a quality, consistent friendship and is not suitable for work experience, student placements or placement requirements.

Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience,



both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.

Requirements18 years or older • National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare •

We'd be happy to discuss a suitable time during the week for a one hour visit between 10am and 5pm Monday to Sunday, visits could be weekly to fortnightly depending on your availability.
