Mayday Recruitment is partnering with a respected organisation within the funeral services sector to recruit a Funeral Director Assistant to join their team in Morningside.

The Role
Working alongside experienced and supportive Funeral Directors, you’ll assist with the coordination and delivery of funeral services while also supporting the day-to-day operations of the funeral home.
No two days will necessarily look the same. You’ll develop a unique skill set, learn from experienced professionals and play an important part in helping families through some of life’s most difficult moments.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing compassionate and professional service to families and clients
- Assisting Funeral Directors with the preparation and delivery of funeral services
- Supporting families and ensuring their needs are handled with care and sensitivity
- Assisting with the preparation, coordination and smooth running of services
- Working respectfully with deceased persons and maintaining dignity at all times
- Supporting the day-to-day operations of the funeral home
- Following established procedures, quality standards and compliance requirements
- Working collaboratively as part of a close-knit and supportive team
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety and wellbeing
About You
We’re looking for someone who is compassionate,
dependable and comfortable helping people during some of life’s most difficult moments.
You don’t necessarily need previous funeral industry experience. What matters most is your attitude, maturity, resilience and genuine desire to support others.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Experience in a customer or service-focused environment, or a willingness to learn
- A current unrestricted driver’s licence
- A calm, empathetic and professional approach
- Confidence working around death, grief and deceased persons
- Strong communication skills and excellent attention to detail
- The ability to follow processes while responding sensitively to individual needs
- Respect for different cultures, beliefs and family traditions
- The physical and emotional resilience required for the role
Experience in hospitality, retail, aged care, community services, healthcare or another people-focused environment will be highly regarded.
