The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage is seeking an experienced, values-driven executive to help drive our organisation forward as our Chief People and Culture Officer.
Reporting to the Assistant Director General, Business and Corporate Services, you will lead the strategic and operational delivery of our People and Culture function, building the capability that enables us to achieve our purpose: to plan and manage land and heritage for all Western Australians.
Over recent years we've invested significantly in our People and Culture operations including the introduction of a Business Partnering Model supported by dedicated Organisational Development and Workforce Management teams. You will lead this directorate and support the continued development of contemporary People and Culture capabilities and services to meet the department’s future requirements.
Your remit will span recruitment, establishment, payroll, employee and industrial relations, work health and safety, and learning and development translating evidence-based insights into workforce strategies and practices that identify and mitigate risk, championing inclusion and diversity, and build the talent pipelines that secure our future capability.
In this role, you will lead by example, aligning your own approach with our values and motivating your team and the broader organisation to do the same. You will also continue to embed reconciliation and inclusion at the heart of our culture.
This position will be filled through a Senior Executive Service fixed term contract for up to 5 years. This process may be used to fill future similar fixed-term positions that may arise within the Department and across the WA public sector in the next 12 months from the initial date of appointment.
To be successful for this position, you need to demonstrate:
- Demonstrated experience in the strategic design, delivery, and management of integrated people and culture programs, workforce management strategies,
change and transformation and human resource service delivery.
- Substantial experience and a demonstrated record of achievement in managing a large and complex human resources portfolio to achieve organisational outcomes.
- Demonstrated leadership behaviours in the context of this position. Core leadership behaviours outlined in Leadership Expectations are applicable to this role and should be demonstrated in the context of Executive Leader The expected behaviours may be assessed during the recruitment and selection process.

Our Perth office is centrally located in the CBD, above the Perth Underground rail station and close to major transport links. We also have a number of offices located in the regions.
