An established and growing electrical contractor is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager to join its Brisbane team and play a key role in delivering major and technically complex projects across Queensland.

This is a senior role sitting at the intersection of design, construction and project delivery. You'll lead the electrical design function, work closely with project and site teams, and ensure designs are technically robust, commercially sound and practical to build.

The Opportunity

As Design Manager, you'll take ownership of the electrical design process from early design development through to construction, commissioning and handover.

You'll work closely with Project Managers, site teams, consultants, clients, builders and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key responsibilities

- Lead and manage electrical design activities across major projects

- Manage, mentor and develop designers and engineers

- Oversee design development from concept through detailed design and construction

- Review drawings, specifications, calculations and technical documentation

- Work closely with site teams to resolve design and constructability issues

- Coordinate electrical services with mechanical, hydraulic, structural and architectural disciplines

- Manage RFIs, design changes, technical queries and design approvals

- Support value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives

- Identify design risks and develop practical solutions





- Liaise with clients, consultants, builders, suppliers and authorities

- Ensure designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, codes and project specifications

- Support procurement, tendering, variations and commercial outcomes

- Drive design quality assurance and continuous improvement

- Support commissioning, completion and as-built documentation

About You

You're an experienced electrical professional who understands both design and construction.

You may currently be working as a Design Manager, Senior Electrical Engineer, Electrical Design Lead or Senior Electrical Designer, and are ready to take on a broader leadership role.

You'll bring:

- Strong experience in electrical building services design and delivery

- Demonstrated experience managing electrical design on major projects

- Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and electrical codes

- A practical understanding of electrical construction and site delivery

- Experience leading and developing design teams

- Strong communication, coordination and stakeholder management skills

- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability

- Commercial awareness and an understanding of project cost and programme

- Confidence working with clients,



consultants and project teams

- Experience with BIM/CAD and relevant electrical design software

- A collaborative, solutions-focused approach

Most importantly, you understand the difference between a design that looks good on paper and one that can actually be built efficiently on site.
