The Australian Financial Review is seeking an early-to-mid career journalist with strong video skills to join the masthead's digital desk. In this role, you will work with the Social Media Editor to create and edit high-quality video for AFR.com and social platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to shape contemporary storytelling and amplify the reach of the nation's premier business publication.
Day to day you will:
- Identify the best opportunities for video storytelling on AFR.com and other platforms, then edit and/or create those videos.
- Collaborate with journalists and editors to deliver compelling videos in keeping with AFR style.
- Pitch, film and edit videos to engage and grow the AFR audience.
- Write and publish smart, targeted social media posts and video content.
- Track performance using analytics to meet follower goals and guide strategic decisions.
- Stay updated on video and social media trends for emerging news delivery opportunities.
What you'll bring:
- Strong video editing skills, with proficiency in tools like Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Solid knowledge of news and current affairs.
An interest in business journalism would be an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience scripting, filming and editing news in video format, ideally in a newsroom environment.
- An understanding of social media platforms, digital trends, and audience engagement.
- News writing skills that align with the AFR's values and tone.
- Additional skills in data tools or graphic design would be an advantage.
