About the role

This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for the planning, logistics, execution, compliance, and overall delivery of traffic management projects across the Rio Tinto network. Reporting directly to the General Manager and Directors, you will be accountable for ensuring projects are planned effectively, adequately resourced, delivered safely, and executed in accordance with contractual obligations and client expectations. The successful candidate will be a strong leader who can manage multiple moving parts in a fast-paced mining environment while maintaining high standards of safety, communication, and operational performance. This position operates on an 8:6 FIFO roster (Thursday to Thursday) and is based out of the Osborne Park office.

Key responsibilities

- Provide leadership, direction, and support to Supervisors, Coordinators, and field crews across multiple work sites.
- Mentor and develop operational personnel while promoting a positive safety culture and professional standards.
- Conduct daily pre-start meetings and toolbox discussions when required.
- Foster strong teamwork and collaboration across all levels of the business.
- Act as a key link between Swan Traffic Management, Rio Tinto representatives, and other stakeholders.
- Take ownership of project planning from mobilisation through to completion.
- Coordinate labour, equipment, vehicles, accommodation, flights, and site access requirements to ensure operational readiness.




- Allocate resources effectively across multiple projects and work fronts.
- Work closely with onsite coordinators and operational teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Attend Rio Tinto scheduling and planning meetings and contribute to operational forecasting and resource planning.

About you

- Proven experience as a Project Manager within mining, civil construction, infrastructure, or a related industry.
- Strong leadership experience managing supervisors and large operational workforces across multiple sites.
- Experience in project planning, workforce logistics, mobilisation, and execution.
- Sound understanding of contract management, compliance, and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while managing competing priorities.
- Robust computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and workforce management systems.
- White Card.
- Current Australian Manual C Class Driver's Licence.
