Will be working on a 1-2 trips per week program delivering building materials such as trusses, blocks, bulka bags of sand & cement, tiles, joinery, electrical and plumbing fixtures etc. (and machinery on occasion) with 3 flat top B trailers from Darwin to the community of Maningrida. Can start immediately and will keep going until road access closes usually around November to December.

Responsibilities

The day-to-day duties generally include:

- Going around Darwin region with flat tops either as a B double or B triple depending on supplier capacity to pick up and load materials.

- Unhooking and hooking up trailers/dollies

- Ensuring cargo is safely secured throughout the trip

- Operating the truck safely and following all road safety rules and traffic laws, especially those relating to road trains

- Maintaining documentation, including logs, timesheets, dockets and records of any safety incidents

- inspecting the truck, trailers and dollies to prevent any safety issues and completing daily prestart inspections (including topping up fluids and greasing all lubrication points)





- Report maintenance items due or repairs/equipment replacement required

- Simple on road repairs such as tyre puncture repair or damaged tyre removal and spare replacement a necessary skill

- Liaising with management and taking truck/trailers/dollies to repair shops for servicing and repairs

Things to know

- Food and accommodation not included (sleeper cab available on truck with icepack and fridge)

- Recommend only applying if you have experience trucking to remote communities with rough offroad conditions

- Preferred to not have pets in cab, other drivers have allergies and may require to travel together to advise on how to drive through the terrain in the initial guiding stage but also incase another driver needs to take over we prefer to not have medical episodes.

- Pay is fortnightly

- hours are versatile as long as the deliveries are consistent

- Star link mini used for contacting colleagues when out of cell range

- Can use own tools or tools provided already on truck
