About the Role:

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Structural Steel Estimator to join our Pre-Construction team based at our Brisbane head office.

idec is known within the industry as a problem solver, delivering unique design-and-construct solutions across a broad range of projects — from Radar Towers to Acoustic Structures and everything in between.

If you enjoy solving problems, thinking outside the box and developing unique solutions for a diverse range of structural steel projects, the idec Pre-Construction team is the place for you.

Reporting to the General Manager, this is a varied role in which you will be responsible for estimating and tendering projects to $10M.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

- Coordinate estimate preparation, calculate/prepare quantities and compile proposals.

- Establish and maintain business development.

- Liaise with suppliers and contractors to obtain competitive pricing.

- Review tender documents assessing the scope, risks and tender complexity.

- Conduct site inspections for understanding, analysis of conditions and assessment of risk if necessary.

- Build and maintain strong commercial relationships with clients and subcontractors.

Skills and Experiences:

- MUST reside and hold full working rights in Australia.

- 3 to 5 years of experience in the structural steel industry.

- The ability to produce Building Cost Estimates/Tender submissions with a high degree of accuracy and success.

- Results-orientated and able to work autonomously and within a team environment.

- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with estimating software such as Strumis or Tekla Powerfab highly regarded.

- Ability to estimate from first principles.
