Position Title: Secondary English Teacher

Role Overview

The Secondary English Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, high-quality English lessons across the Secondary School. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop strong communication, literacy and critical thinking skills, while fostering a genuine appreciation for literature and language.

The role requires a teacher who can effectively support a diverse range of learners, use contemporary teaching practices and contribute positively to the academic and broader life of the College. Experience teaching senior English and HSC courses is highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated and effective English lessons aligned with the NSW curriculum.

- Develop learning experiences that foster critical thinking, creativity, communication and a love of literature and language.

- Assess, monitor and evaluate student learning and progress, using assessment data to inform teaching practice.

- Provide appropriate differentiation and support to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

- Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive and well-managed learning environment.





- Develop positive relationships with students and promote their academic, social and emotional wellbeing.

- Integrate appropriate digital technologies and contemporary teaching practices into learning.

- Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum planning, assessment and whole-school initiatives.

- Maintain accurate records of student achievement, assessment and progress.

- Participate in professional learning and contribute to the ongoing improvement of teaching and learning practices.

- Uphold the values and ethos of Minarah College and undertake other duties as directed.

Key Selection Criteria & Attributes

- Relevant teaching qualifications and current NESA accreditation.

- Demonstrated experience teaching English in a secondary school setting.

- Strong knowledge and understanding of the NSW English curriculum and effective assessment practices.

- Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated and student-centred lessons.

- Experience teaching senior English and HSC courses (desirable).

- Ability to effectively assess, monitor and respond to student learning and progress.

- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to establish positive relationships with students.

- Demonstrated ability to integrate digital technologies into teaching and learning.

- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.





- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a professional learning community.

- Commitment to the wellbeing, development and achievement of all students.

- Experience working in an independent or faith-based school environment (desirable).

- A commitment to the values and ethos of Islamic education.

- Enthusiasm, initiative and a genuine passion for English education.

- Professionalism, integrity and a commitment to continuous improvement.

- Current NSW Working with Children Check.

Employment Conditions

Teachers at Minarah College are employed under the Independent Schools (Teachers) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025.
