About the role

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Casual Chef to join the culinary team at Rivermill Café. This is a casual position with a focus on weekend service, offering flexibility and the chance to be part of a dynamic hospitality environment. Based in Mount Nathan, QLD, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional food experiences to our guests, working in a fast-paced café setting where quality and creativity are paramount.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare and cook a variety of café dishes, including breakfast items, lunch specials, and daily specials to consistent quality standards

- Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards in accordance with food handling regulations and café protocols

- Manage multiple cooking stations during busy weekend service periods

- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely delivery of meals and exceptional customer satisfaction

- Monitor food inventory and communicate stock requirements to management

- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen workspace and equipment

- Adapt to menu changes and special requests whilst maintaining service flow

- Support team members and contribute to a positive, collaborative kitchen culture

What we're looking for

- Proven experience working as a chef or cook in a café, restaurant, or similar hospitality environment

- Robust knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and menu planning

- Current Food Safety Supervisor or equivalent food handling certification

- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak service times

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills





- Flexibility and reliability, particularly for weekend shifts

- A passion for quality food and customer service

- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high hygiene standards

- Experience with café-style cooking and breakfast preparation is highly desirable

- Ability to work every Saturday & Sunday plus additional days as per requirement
