About the role

Banjo's Bakery Cafe is seeking an Experienced Sales Assistant with coffee experience to join our team in Howrah, TAS 7018. This is a part-time position that offers the perfect opportunity to be part of a dynamic retail environment where quality products and exceptional customer service are at the heart of what we do. You will play a vital role in delivering an outstanding customer experience whilst managing sales transactions and maintaining our café's welcoming atmosphere. This position is ideal for someone who has a passion for food, beverages and creating memorable interactions with customers.

What you'll be doing

- Greeting customers warmly and providing knowledgeable recommendations about our bakery products and beverage offerings

- Taking customer orders accurately and efficiently, with particular expertise in coffee preparation and specialty drinks

- Processing sales transactions using point-of-sale systems with accuracy and attention to detail

- Preparing and serving hot and cold beverages to the highest standard, ensuring consistency and quality

- Maintaining a clean, hygienic and organised retail and café space, including display areas and customer seating

- Managing stock levels and assisting with inventory management of bakery items and beverage supplies

- Supporting the team during peak trading periods with a positive and collaborative approach

- Handling customer inquiries and resolving any concerns professionally and courteously

- Following food safety and hygiene protocols to maintain the highest standards of customer care

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a Sales Assistant or in a similar retail or hospitality customer-facing role

- Demonstrated expertise and passion for coffee, including experience in making espresso-based drinks and other speciality beverages

- Strong customer service skills with a genuine ability to engage with customers and build rapport





- Cash handling experience and proficiency with point-of-sale systems

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work efficiently during busy periods whilst maintaining attention to detail

- Positive organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

- Knowledge of food and beverage products and a willingness to share that knowledge with customers

- Flexibility and reliability with availability for part-time shifts

- A valid Food Handler's Certificate or willingness to obtain one
