We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and proactive Support Worker to support a female participant in her 30s living with mental health and addiction-related challenges.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping individuals improve their wellbeing, build independence, develop healthier routines, and increase social and community engagement in a respectful and person-centred way.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing emotional support and building a positive, trusting relationship
Supporting the participant with addiction recovery goals and encouraging healthier lifestyle choices
Encouraging healthy routines, personal hygiene, and overall wellbeing (participant is independent with personal care but perks from prompting and encouragement)
Assisting with meal preparation, cooking, budgeting, and general daily living tasks
Supporting attendance at GP and other appointments
Encouraging social connection, community participation, and monthly family visits
Maintaining engagement and showing initiative during periods of withdrawal, low motivation, or disengagement
About You:
Must have a valuable understanding of addiction and the ability to provide compassionate, non-judgmental support
Patient, empathetic, and non-judgmental
Experience or confidence supporting individuals experiencing mental health and addiction-related challenges
Passionate about helping people improve their quality of life and independence
Able to take initiative while respecting participant choice and independence
Reliable, consistent, and adaptable in approach
Requirements:
Minimum 1 year experience or lived experience in mental health, addiction, or support work preferred
Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check
Certificate III/IV in Individual Support (or similar), or currently studying in a related field
Current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
Hours:
We are seeking up to 2 suitable support workers to provide support 3–4 days per week, with shifts of up to 4 hours per day.
The roster is adaptable and will be developed collaboratively with the support workers and participant. However, once established, consistency and routine are essential to maintain stability and progress.
Some daytime availability is essential to support appointments and community access, alongside a mix of daytime and evening shifts depending on the participant’s routine and needs.
Job Types: Permanent, Subcontract
Pay: $40.00 – $69.16 per hour
