Sugar Spoon is a well-established café located in Charlemont, 3217. We are committed to providing high-quality food and excellent service to our customers.

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our kitchen team on a full time basis.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and menu requirements.
Preparing ingredients, including washing, cutting, measuring, and portioning food items.
Monitoring the quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation.
Ensuring meals are prepared and served consistently and within required timeframes.
Operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, food preparation areas, equipment, and storage areas.
Ensuring food is stored appropriately and in accordance with food safety requirements.
Checking stock levels and assisting with stock rotation and inventory control.
Minimising food wastage through appropriate preparation, portion control, and storage.
Following workplace health and safety and food hygiene procedures.
Working collaboratively with chefs, kitchen staff, and front-of-house team members.




Assisting with the preparation of food for busy service periods, functions, and special events where required.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, applicants should have:
Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery or a related field, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
Previous experience of at least 1 year working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen environment.
Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, food hygiene, and kitchen safety.
Ability to work efficiently in a quick-paced kitchen environment.
Valuable organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining consistent food quality.
Flexibility to work across a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays where required.

Qualifications

Preferred: Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent/relevant qualification.

Applicants with substantial relevant industry experience may also be considered.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $84,466.28 per year
