Job Title: Unix Developer

Location: Sydney/Melbourne

Role Purpose

We are looking for a Unix/Linux Scripting Engineer with robust hands-on experience in RHEL/Linux administration, Unix scripting, Perl, Python and SQL. The candidate will be responsible for scripting, system-level troubleshooting, performance tuning and automation across Unix/Linux environments.

Must-Have Skills
Robust experience with Unix/Linux scripting.
Hands-on exposure to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
Experience with Linux memory management and performance tuning.
Robust understanding of Linux file systems and file system navigation.
Hands-on experience with Perl scripting.
Strong Python scripting experience.
Strong SQL scripting/querying experience.
Ability to troubleshoot and analyse Linux/Unix system issues.
Experience developing scripts for automation, monitoring and operational support.

Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain and troubleshoot Unix/Linux shell scripts.




Work extensively with RHEL/Linux environments.
Perform Linux system analysis covering memory utilisation, CPU performance, processes and file systems.
Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting across Unix/Linux environments.
Navigate and manage Linux file systems and troubleshoot file-related issues.
Develop and maintain Perl scripts for system and application automation.
Develop Python scripts to automate operational and technical tasks.
Write and execute SQL queries/scripts for data extraction, validation and troubleshooting.
Analyse system logs and troubleshoot scripting or application-related issues.
Automate repetitive operational activities using Unix, Perl and Python.
Work with technical teams to identify performance issues and implement appropriate solutions.
Maintain technical documentation for scripts, processes and operational procedures.
