About the role
This is primarily a hands-on fitting position for an experienced and capable 4x4 Accessory Fitter / Automotive Technician to join the workshop team. The role involves fitting a broad range of vehicle accessories and components including bull bars, shock absorbers, wheels and tyres, tow bars, underbody components, brackets, tanks, vehicle accessories and other custom equipment. The workshop works extensively with Mitsubishi Fuso Canter and Isuzu NPS 4x4 trucks as well as Global Xplorer motorhome builds, so the work is varied and considerably more compelling than repetitive accessory fitting.
Key responsibilities
Fitting 4x4 accessories and vehicle components including bull bars, tow bars, brackets, tanks and underbody accessories
Wheels, tyres and associated vehicle modifications
Drilling, measuring, mounting and accurately fitting custom components
Basic mechanical work and fault finding
Reading fitting instructions, drawings and job sheets
Maintaining a high standard of workmanship and presentation
Working with workshop,
fabrication and auto-electrical teams to complete vehicle builds
About you
Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on fitting experience
Previous automotive, 4x4 accessory, truck, caravan, motorhome or similar experience
Ability to confidently use workshop and power tools
Valuable attention to detail
Ability to measure, drill, fabricate minor brackets and make components fit properly
Ability to work unsupervised and take ownership of a job
Current driver's licence
Reliable, practical and willing to be part of a workshop team
Auto-electrical experience would be a significant advantage but is not essential
About us AAV4x4 designs, manufactures and modifies specialist 4x4 trucks and expedition vehicles from our Brendale facility. The successful applicant will work on some unusual and engaging vehicles rather than doing the same installation every day.
