This opportunity is associated with a major multi-building development at Brisbane Showgrounds, Bowen Hills, forming part of the infrastructure and accommodation program supporting Brisbane ****.We are seeking an experienced, practical and site-focused Safety Officer to support the delivery team across an allocated building, project zone or group of work fronts within this large-scale construction environment.The RoleReporting to the HSE Manager / Project Manager, you will:Provide day-to-day site safety support and monitoring and conducting site inspections, safety walks and hazard identificationMonitor compliance with WHS legislation, project safety systems, SWMS and permitsReview SWMS and high-risk construction activities and ensure appropriate controls are implementedSupport pre-starts, toolbox talks, safety meetings and subcontractor inductionsMonitor high-risk activities including formwork, working at heights, crane operations, scaffolding, mobile plant and structural worksWork closely with Site Managers, Foremen, Supervisors and subcontractors to resolve safety issuesSupport incident and near-miss investigations and corrective actionsMaintain safety registers,



inspections and compliance documentationMonitor subcontractor safety performance and address non-complianceAssist with WHS audits and inspectionsPromote a practical, proactive and positive safety culture across the projectWhat We're Looking ForCertificate IV, Diploma or relevant qualification in Work Health & SafetyPrevious experience as a Safety Officer, WHS Officer, HSE Advisor or Safety CoordinatorConstruction industry experience essentialMajor commercial, high-rise residential or large-scale project experience highly regardedSound knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation and Codes of PracticeStrong understanding of SWMS, risk assessments, permits and incident reportingPractical experience monitoring high-risk construction activitiesStrong communication skills and confidence engaging with subcontractors and site personnelConstruction White CardFirst Aid, Working at Heights, ICAM/investigation or other relevant qualifications advantageousWe are looking for someone who is visible on site and comfortable working directly with construction teams — able to build strong relationships while having the confidence to challenge unsafe practices when required.The OpportunityThe scale of this proposed development will involve multiple buildings, subcontractors and concurrent construction work fronts, creating an excellent chance for a Safety Officer wanting exposure to a major, programme-driven project environment.For the right candidate, this represents the opportunity to potentially contribute to a major Brisbane ****-related development while building their career with a major Australian construction business.All expressions of interest and discussions will be treated in strict confidence.Reference:636XYY45
