The DepartmentCaulfield Pain Management and Research Centre (CPM&RC;) is an ambulatory service providing specialist assessment and treatment for adults with chronic non-cancer related pain.
The Centre aims to assist patients to reduce the impact of persistent pain by optimising pain treatments, improving function and promoting self-management.
This is achieved by expert assessment and patient education There is a focus on the Cognitive Behavioural education and restoration of function for management of pain with a philosophy of teaching self-management strategies, and access to a number of treatment modalities including group and individual treatment programs.
The centre undertakes research on outcomes of pain treatments, psychosocial aspects of chronic pain, pain and ageing and novel therapies for pain.The RoleThe Occupational Therapist will be responsible for the provision of comprehensive clinical Occupational Therapy assessment, treatment and education of patients with complex pain conditions, using Pain Neuroscience current knowledge and biopsychosocial models of care.
They will manage a clinical caseload, working within a multi-disciplinary team comprising of doctors, psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, nurses and other team members.
They will participate in the initiation and implementation of quality and service initiatives within the clinic and have professional links with the Occupational Therapy department.
They will be responsible for the development and implementation of quality and service improvement programs and education framework.
They will be leaders in contributing to knowledge while managing a clinical caseload.
