Business Unit
The Governance and Regulatory Services unit supports a safe, accessible and well-managed community through the delivery of regulatory and compliance services.
The team works with residents, businesses and visitors to provide education, respond to community concerns and administer Council's responsibilities under relevant legislation and local laws.
The Opportunity
As the Parking and Community Laws Support Officer, you will help deliver Council's parking, community laws and animal management services across Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance.
You will undertake parking patrols, respond to community enquiries and assist with animal management and broader compliance activities.
Using a combination of education, customer service and authorised enforcement, you will help community members understand their responsibilities and support positive compliance outcomes.
You will also assist Community Laws Officers and provide relief for School Crossing Supervisors when required.
This is a full-time position based across Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance.
Some weekend and public holiday work may be required.
Key responsibilities include:
Undertake parking patrols, respond to parking-related matters and issue infringement notices as required.
Provide explicit advice to the community about parking requirements and encourage voluntary compliance through education.
Assist with animal management duties, including handling, impounding and transporting animals.
Maintain accurate records to support investigations,
inspections and compliance activities across community laws and animal management.
Provide relief for School Crossing Supervisors when required.
What we're looking for:
Strong customer service and communication skills, including the ability to manage difficult or confrontational situations professionally.
Experience in parking compliance, animal management or a related regulatory environment.
Confidence handling animals, particularly dogs and cats, using safe work practices.
Ability to interpret and apply legislation, Council procedures and established guidelines.
An organised and reliable approach, with the ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and contribute positively to a team.
