Principal Site Reliability Engineer | Sydney

We're partnering with a leading technology-driven financial services organisation to appoint a Principal Site Reliability Engineer into its core Reliability Engineering function.
n
This is not a traditional operations-focused SRE role. It is a senior engineering leadership position for someone who can combine deep software engineering and architecture expertise with a strong understanding of reliability, scalability and resilience.

You will:

Shape the technical roadmap and engineering strategy
n
Architect scalable, secure and highly resilient systems
n
Remain technically involved through design, coding and code reviews
n
Establish engineering standards and contemporary development practices
n
Mentor senior engineers and build a culture of technical excellence
n
Improve platform reliability, incident management and operational performance
n
Explore how AI and emerging technologies can improve engineering outcomes
n




Influence senior product, technology and business stakeholders
n
n
We're looking for someone with:
n
n
Principal, Staff or Lead-level engineering experience
n
Strong software design and architecture capability
n
Experience building and operating complex, high-performance systems at scale
n
Deep knowledge of reliability engineering and modern software development
n
The ability to translate business requirements into practical, extensible solutions
n
A track record of influencing and inspiring high-performing engineering teams
n
Experience in financial services or another highly regulated environment would be advantageous
n
