Lead the delivery of the Thriving Kids in Tasmania reform program, working with government, community and national stakeholders to drive key reform initiatives, provide strategic advice, and improve outcomes for children and families.
The Team
System Management and Reform (SMR) is a division within the Department of Health (DOH).
SMR performs the core system management functions of planning, purchasing and monitoring of health services on behalf of DoH.
This is complemented by the provision of strategic policy and intergovernmental advice to the Minister for Health and Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing to help ensure the interests of the DoH and broader Tasmania community are appropriately represented at state and national levels.
SMR also has responsibility for supporting our community and service sector and is responsible for the Family Violence Counselling and Support Service, supporting the Voluntary Assisted Dying Commission and undertaking a range of functions in the disability and ageing services sectors.
The Role
Play a key leadership role in delivering the Thriving Kids in Tasmania reform program, a significant whole-of-government initiative focused on improving outcomes for children and families.
Reporting to the Director, Disability Services and Reform, you will lead the planning, governance, implementation and delivery of complex reform activities, ensuring alignment with national agreements and Tasmania's implementation priorities.
Working across government, community and national stakeholders, you will drive service model development, manage project governance and risk, coordinate cross-agency activities, and provide strategic advice to senior executives, Ministers and government committees.
You will also represent Tasmania in intergovernmental and national forums, helping translate policy commitments into practical and sustainable outcomes.
You will need
Extensive experience leading large-scale, complex programs, projects or reform initiatives.




Strong strategic leadership skills with the ability to drive outcomes in a complex and evolving environment.
Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities across government, community and service sectors.
Highly developed communication, negotiation skills, including the ability to work on sensitive and complex issues.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, risks, resources and governance requirements while delivering results.
Strong capability in providing high-level advice, briefings and reports for senior decisionmakers.
Experience working within health, disability, early childhood, human services or a related policy and service delivery environment.
A collaborative and outcomes-focused approach, with a commitment to improving services for children, families and communities.

Details of appointment
Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 15 September ****.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.




Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
$144,169 to $153,844 per annum + our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement ****
