Ox Engineering is looking for a reliable and hardworkingTrades Assistant – Mechanical & Fabricationto join our manufacturing team in Canning Vale, WA.
n
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands‐on work and wants to develop their skills in a busy engineering, mechanical and fabrication environment. You'll work alongside
experiencedBoilermakers
and Mechanical Fitters, gaining valuable exposure to a broad range of workshop and manufacturing activities.
n
About the Role
n
As a Trades Assistant, you will provide practical support to our tradespeople and workshop team across mechanical, fabrication, assembly and general manufacturing activities.
n
The successful applicant will be hands‐on, safety‐focused and able to undertake tasks with minimal supervision once instructed.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
AssistBoilermakers and Mechanical Fittersas required.
n
Assist with the assembly and fitting of mechanical components under the guidance of experienced tradespeople.
n
Prepare, handle and move steel, materials and equipment.
n
Prepare and work fromsteel cutting lists.
n
Use hand and power tools, including grinders, drills and other workshop equipment.
n
Carry out cutting and grinding of steel.
n
Assist with fabrication, assembly, fitting and general workshop activities.
n
Support the maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment as required.
n
Follow instructions, technical drawings and work requirements to complete tasks accurately.
n
Assist with the safe operation and use of workshop equipment.
n
Undertake and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision and in accordance with health and safety requirements.
n
Maintain a clean, safe, tidy and organised worksite.
n
Ensure associated equipment and work areas are clean, safe and ready for use.
n
Follow WHS procedures,
company policies and safe work practices.
n
Support the team to meet production deadlines and quality standards.
n
Participate in training and development opportunities to build mechanical, fabrication and workshop skills.
n
Perform other reasonable duties as required.
n

Previous workshop, fabrication, mechanical or manufacturing experience is desirable butnot essential.

Qualifications & Licences
n
The following qualifications, tickets and experience will be highly regarded:
n
n
HRWL Forklift Licence – required.
n
HR Driver's Licence – desirable but not essential.
n
Experience or qualification to safely operate anoverhead crane.
n
Previous experience working around mechanical, fabrication or manufacturing environments.
n
Basic understanding of mechanical principles and practices.
n
Completion of secondary education or equivalent.
n
