About the Opportunity You will spend a large part of your time visiting and inspecting workplaces that are licensed Major Hazard Facilities throughout Victoria.
As a Technical Inspector, you will conduct scheduled inspections in accordance with oversight plans and participate in and lead annual inspections and verifications as required.
During an inspection, you will gauge the level of compliance with legislative requirements and take appropriate action, which may range from the provision of information to the imposing of enforcement measures.
The Major Hazards Program is part of the Regulated Industries division.
As a WorkSafe Inspector, you'll complete a training program designed to equip you with the skills, knowledge and confidence to succeed in a regulatory setting.
Once appointed, you'll spend much of your time visiting workplaces, assessing workplace safety, investigating concerns and helping organisations meet their legal obligations.
No two days are the same.
You will: Inspect workplaces and assess compliance with occupational health and safety legislation Investigate incidents,

About You Our Inspectors come from diverse professional backgrounds but share a common goal: ensuring every worker returns home safely at the end of the day.
You will ideally bring: Expertise in the storage handling of Dangerous Goods and a demonstrated knowledge of process industries.
Expertise in industry sector and may be demonstrated through: Knowledge of industry standards and codes of practice; Understanding of equipment, work practices and operating procedures A background working at a Major Hazard Facility is highly desirable A systems-thinking approach through experience and/or application Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills The ability to assess situations and make sound decisions under pressure Excellent influencing, negotiation and conflict resolution skills Strong verbal and written communication skills The ability to interpret and apply legislation, standards or technical information Confidence using technology and computer systems Qualifications in occupational health and safety, compliance, a trade, technical discipline or relevant industry experience are desirable but not essential Most importantly, you'll be passionate about making a positive difference and committed to improving workplace safety outcomes.

Eligibility Requirements To be considered, applicants must: Hold a valid, unrestricted Victorian Driver's Licence Be available for all recruitment activities and training dates Successfully complete National Criminal History, Reference and Medical Checks Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or hold permanent residency Please note, induction training will involve attendance at our Essendon Fields office three days per week and your local office two days per week throughout the 16-week program.
