Seaview Christian College is looking for a suitable Secondary Teacher of Christian faith commencing in Semester Two ****. It is a full-time position, however, part-time opportunities available. Seaview Christian College is an independent, non-denominational Christian College located in the city of Port Augusta, 322 kilometres north of Adelaide at the foot of the Flinders Ranges.
Established in ****, the College is one of 15 schools operated by Christian Community Ministries Ltd. The mission of Seaview Christian College is to provide Christ-centred schooling in an atmosphere of love, respect, peace and discipline which will encourage students to achieve their full potential for God.
About the role
Teachers are responsible for delivering high-quality, Christ-centred education that supports the intellectual, spiritual, social, and emotional development of students. As each child is precious, unique, and individually created by God, your practice must reflect a deep respect for the inherent worth, dignity, and God-given potential of every student. You are required to model a vibrant Christian faith, integrate a Biblical worldview into learning experiences, and contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where students are encouraged to grow in character, faith, and academic achievement. The role exists to provide engaging and effective instruction that is aligned with the college curriculum, the AITSL Professional Standards for Teachers, and the College's mission and values.
Key responsibilities & duties
1. Teaching and Learning
Plan, deliver, and evaluate high-quality, age-appropriate learning programs aligned to the college curriculum and the school's Christian philosophy.
Use evidence-informed instructional practices, including explicit teaching, modelling, guided practice, and opportunities for independent application.
Differentiate teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs, abilities, ages, and backgrounds of students.
Establish clear learning intentions, success criteria, and provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth.
Create learning environments that engage and challenge students, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and personal responsibility.
2. Christian Mission, Ministry, and Pastoral Care
Model a Christ-centred life in conduct, relationships, and professional practice, consistent with the ethos of the College.
Integrate Biblical principles, Christian worldview, and spiritual formation opportunities into teaching programs where appropriate.
Actively support the faith life of the school by participating in devotions, prayer, worship services, and pastoral programs.
Provide pastoral care that reflects the character of Christ by offering compassion, support, and encouragement to students and families.
3. Classroom Setting and Student Wellbeing
Establish and maintain safe, orderly, and inclusive learning environments that promote student wellbeing and respectful behaviour.
Apply effective behaviour management strategies consistent with school policies and Christian values.
Identify students at risk of disengagement or wellbeing concerns and implement appropriate support strategies, including referrals
4. Assessment, Feedback, and Reporting
Use a range of valid assessment methods to monitor, document,
and evaluate student learning and make consistent and comparable judgements in assessment, reporting and feedback.
Provide meaningful assessment feedback and write clear, comprehensive semester reports that reflect student progress and achievement.
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential student records in line with school and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with colleagues to design quality assessment tasks, moderate student work, and ensure accurate and consistent judgements.
5. Engage in Professional Learning
Participate in performance appraisal processes, goal setting, and reflective practice to enhance professional effectiveness.
Apply professional learning that improves teaching practice and maximises student learning outcomes, and engage in ongoing professional learning that improves teaching practice and aligns with the AITSL Standards and the strategic direction of the College.
6. Communication and Partnerships
Foster strong, respectful relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the wider school community.
Promote the mission, vision, and values of the College in all professional interactions and public communication.
Communicate clearly and promptly with parents and caregivers regarding student learning, well-being, and progress, and adhere to school communication policies.
7. Extracurricular Activities
Participate in and support the College's extracurricular programs, including camps, sporting activities, arts events, musical productions, and co-curricular clubs.
Contribute to activities that promote student engagement, teamwork, leadership, and character development.
Use personal skills, interests, and gifts to enrich extracurricular offerings and provide meaningful opportunities for students outside the classroom.
8. Compliance, Duty of Care, and Operational Responsibilities
Uphold all legal responsibilities, school policies, and child-safe standards, including mandatory reporting and WHS obligations.
Demonstrate high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, ethical conduct, and digital citizenship.
Attend staff meetings, professional development days, school-wide events, and required College activities throughout the school year as required.
Supervise students during class time, break times, excursions, camps, and other school-approved activities, following duty-of-care principles.
9. Workplace Health & Safety
Promote and model the importance of health and safety across the workplace.
Remain vigilant to potential or actual hazards and take appropriate action to address or report them.
Take reasonable care for personal safety and the safety of colleagues and students, intervening where necessary to prevent unsafe acts or conditions.
Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required and use it correctly.
Engage in mandated emergency procedures and drills to maintain operational preparedness and uphold organisational safety protocols.

Skills and Qualifications
Degree qualified
Possess current registration with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia, or be eligible for registration
Continued commitment to improved practices in line with AITSL Professional Standards for Teachers
Current Australian citizenship, or capacity to fulfil Australian visa and entry requirements if a non-citizen residing in Australia or overseas
Conditions of employment for teaching staff are contained in theCCM Schools Enterprise Agreement ****.Annual remuneration for teachers, subject to employment location and recognised prior teaching experience, is in the range $88,824 to $127,519 (January **** rates, full time base rates, inclusive of annual leave loading).
