St Narsai Assyrian Christian College is a co-educational independent school that educates students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Located in Southwest Sydney, the College is embedded in the Christian faith and its values. We are seeking an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Secondary English Teacher to join our collaborative English faculty. The successful applicant will have the capacity to deliver engaging and rigorous learning experiences across Years 7–12 and support students with a diverse range of learning needs and abilities.
Experience teaching Stage 6 English—including English Standard, English Advanced, English Studies or English Extension—is highly desirable. However, applications are welcomed from both experienced teachers and early-career teachers with a strong knowledge of English curriculum and pedagogy.
This is a temporary full-time position commencing on 27 January **** and ending on 10 December ****.
The ideal candidate must have:
Ability to teach English across Years 7–12 and plan and deliver engaging, challenging and well-structured lessons.
Strong knowledge of the NSW English curriculum and current NESA requirements.
Ability to use explicit teaching, assessment data and effective feedback to improve student literacy and achievement.
Ability to differentiate learning to support and extend students with diverse learning needs.
Ability to establish a positive, orderly and inclusive classroom environment.
Willingness to contribute to the development and delivery of Stage 6 English courses.
Willingness to work collaboratively with members of the English faculty to develop programs, assessments and teaching resources.
Excellent communication skills with students, colleagues, parents and carers.
Willingness to participate actively in the pastoral, co-curricular and wider life of the College.
Experience teaching one or more Stage 6 English courses, and experience using student achievement data to inform teaching and intervention, are desirable.
The capacity to support both students requiring additional assistance and high-potential learners is desirable.
Involvement in co-curricular, enrichment or senior student support programs is desirable.
Essential Criteria:
A tertiary qualification in Education, and NESA accreditation to teach in NSW.
A strong commitment to the Christian ethos and values of the school.
A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
