About The Role
n
As an Admissions Clerk, you will often be the first point of contact for patients and their carers at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, providing a professional, caring and customer-focused service.
n
You will join the 3 East Admission and Pre-admission Clinic, supporting the coordination of a large and varied patient cohort across the 23-hour Unit, Operating Suites, 3 West Day Procedure Unit, Planned Surgery Booking Office and Bed Assignment, Access & Flow.
n
Key Accountabilities
n
n
Welcome patients and carers, providing a caring and qualified first point of contact.
n
Coordinate admissions efficiently, escalating issues that may impact patient flow.
n
Respond to patient and carer enquiries professionally across phone, face-to-face and electronic channels.
n
Coordinate Pre-admission Clinic visits to support smooth and timely patient flow.
n
Collaborate with Perioperative Services and RMH teams to support efficient patient care.
n
Work safely within scope, contribute to a positive team culture and participate in ongoing learning.
n

About You
n
You are a calm, friendly and patient-focused professional who takes pride in providing a positive experience for patients and carers. You will bring:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a respectful approach to all stakeholders.
n
Strong organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate information and databases.
n
A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively in a busy team environment.
n
Previous healthcare experience is desirable but not essential.
n
