We are seeking an outstanding educator and experienced leader to lead our HASS learning area.
The successful candidate will bring demonstrated expertise in teaching HASS, alongside a passion for inspiring students, supporting staff, and driving academic excellence within the HASS curriculum in Years 9 to 12. The Head of Department will also work collaboratively with the Middle School (Years 5 to 8) HASS Coordinator.
Ideally, the successful candidate will be able to teach Year 12 ATAR Geography; however, other suitably qualified HASS candidates are also encouraged to apply.
Role Responsibilities
Lead a dynamic team of HASS teachers across Years 9 to 12, in the Senior School, fostering collaboration, professional growth and excellence in teaching practice.
Provide strategic leadership and coordination of the Years 9-12 Humanities and Social Sciences programme, including senior courses in Geography, History, Business Management and Enterprise, and Accounting and Finance.
Oversee curriculum planning, implementation and review to ensure alignment with the Western Australian Curriculum and relevant senior secondary course requirements.
Use student achievement data and other evidence-based measures to monitor curriculum effectiveness,
inform teaching practice and drive continuous improvement in student outcomes.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment with high expectations.
Role Requirements
Relevant teaching qualifications and current registration with TRBWA.
Ideally, the ability to teach Year 12 ATAR Geography; however, other specialists are also encouraged to apply.
Leadership experience or have demonstrated leadership qualities.
Excellence in teaching and learning from Years 9 -12.
Current knowledge and understanding of SCSA WA Curriculum.
Experience in curriculum differentiation and modifying learning tasks to meet specific educational needs
Outstanding professionalism, communication skills, relationship building and collaboration abilities.
Ability to think strategically with a willingness to adapt to and drive change.
Current Working with Children Check
