Our client, a well-established engineering company in Cairns, is seeking an experienced Foreman/Leading Hand to join their team for an immediate start.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader with a strong engineering background.

The Role

As Foreman, you will be responsible for supervising workshop and site operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and to the highest quality standards. You will lead a team of skilled tradespeople, coordinate daily activities, and liaise with management, clients, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead, supervise, and coordinate engineering and fabrication teams.

- Plan and schedule daily work activities to meet project deadlines.

- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.

- Monitor productivity, quality, and resource allocation.

- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations.

- Conduct toolbox talks, site inspections, and safety audits.

- Mentor, train, and support team members to achieve high performance.

- Liaise with project managers, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.





- Identify and resolve operational issues to minimise downtime and delays.

- Maintain accurate records of labour, materials, equipment, and project progress.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Proven experience as a Foreman, Leading Hand, or Supervisor within an engineering, fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial environment.

- Strong leadership and people management skills.

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.

- Sound knowledge of engineering processes, fabrication, machining, welding, or heavy industrial operations.

- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.

- A robust commitment to workplace health and safety.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

- Valid driver's licence.

Preferred Qualifications

- Trade Qualification in Engineering, Fabrication, Mechanical Fitting, Boilermaking, or a related discipline.

- Supervisor or leadership training.

- Relevant safety certifications and industry tickets.
