Jetwave Quayside is seeking a capable and organised Maintenance Planner & Coordinator to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of our marine fleet.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will plan, coordinate and administer planned and corrective maintenance through the Helm maintenance management system. You will be the key link between vessel crews, Vessel Managers and Jetwave Quayside maintenance personnel, ensuring maintenance requests are properly scoped, prioritised and prepared for approval and execution.

This role would suit a technically minded maintenance professional who can balance operational priorities, vessel availability, safety and cost-effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

- Monitor and manage maintenance requests submitted through Helm.

- Review requests for completeness and obtain further information from Masters, Engineers and vessel crews.

- Develop detailed work scopes covering labour, parts, consumables, specialist contractors, estimated durations and operational impacts.

- Assess maintenance requests based on operational risk, statutory requirements and asset criticality.

- Prepare practical maintenance schedules that optimise workshop efficiency and vessel availability.

- Coordinate labour, workshop and yard requirements with Quayside personnel.

- Maintain accurate and current maintenance records in Helm.

- Keep Vessel Managers and crews informed about maintenance status and proposed scheduling.

- Review recurring defects and identify opportunities for permanent corrective action.

- Assist with forward maintenance planning, annual dockings and major maintenance activities.





- Support improvements to preventative maintenance programs and maintenance planning processes.

- Coach vessel personnel to improve the quality of submitted work requests.

- Identify opportunities to reduce downtime and improve maintenance efficiency.

Final decisions regarding maintenance priorities, expenditure and scheduling remain with the relevant Vessel Manager.

About you

You will bring strong technical knowledge, sound judgement and the ability to coordinate multiple maintenance priorities in a busy operational environment.

To succeed in this position, you will have:

- A trade qualification in mechanical, diesel, marine, electrical or a similar discipline, preferably.

- Strong knowledge of marine engineering systems and equipment.

- Excellent organisational, planning and project management skills.

- The ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.

- Explicit communication and strong interpersonal skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management software such as Helm.

- A sound understanding of maritime safety and environmental requirements.

- The ability to build effective working relationships with vessel crews, employees, subcontractors and clients.

- A current Australian driver’s licence.

A Certificate IV or Diploma in Engineering, Maintenance or Asset Management would be highly regarded. Marine industry experience is advantageous but not essential.
