The Role

The Bushland and Bushcare Officer is responsible for managing and implementing Urban Ecology programs in three key areas:

- Remnant Vegetation Management – working to progress towards EAP targets
- Bushcare Volunteer Program – Managing an active, effective and engaging Bushcare volunteer program that improves remnant vegetation and native habitat across Waverley LGA
- Biosecurity – ensure that Council and residents comply with the NSW Biosecurity Act 2015, with delegations under this Act.

About You

- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in applied natural resource management,



biodiversity conservation or land care operations
- Previous experience in supervising bush regeneration contractors and Bushcare volunteers
- Demonstrated understanding of bush regeneration and natural resource management in a local government context
- Knowledge of vegetation and ecosystems in coastal and urban environments
- Excellent time management skills, and experience in administering procurement, supplier performance, risks and variations
- Demonstrated project management skills including scoping, scheduling, risk and financial management
- Practical experience with risk and safety associated with bush regeneration and volunteer activities
